Theme Updates

How to Update Your Theme

The update process is simple, automated, and only takes a few minutes.

Before updating, always export your current theme from Shopify.

Step 1: Export Your Current Theme

1. Go to your Shopify Admin → Online Store → Themes

2. Find the theme you’re currently using (whether it's live or not)

3. Click the 3 dots (…) → Download theme file

4. Shopify will send you an email with a link to download your theme as a .zip file

Step 2: Access the Materia Dashboard

You must have either the Growth or Professional license plan to use theme dashboard.

1. Go to materia-dashboard.com

2. Create your account and confirm your email

3. Once inside, go to the Theme Updates page

Step 3: Upload & Update Your Theme

1. On the Theme Updates page, drag and drop your exported .zip file or click to upload

2. Click Update

3. Wait a few seconds — we’ll process and upgrade your theme automatically

4. Once done, download the updated version of your theme

✅ Your existing settings and customizations will be preserved

Step 4: Reinstall the Updated Theme on Shopify

1. Go back to Shopify → Online Store → Themes

2. Click Add theme → Upload zip file

3. Upload the updated theme file you just downloaded

4. Click Publish

That’s it. Your store now runs on the latest version of Materia.

How Often Are Updates Released?

We release new updates every 1–2 months. These updates usually include:

• Minor bug fixes

• Layout improvements

• Compatibility with the latest Shopify features

• New sections and customizations

You'll be notified by email every time a new update is coming and when it becomes available.
